Frequently asked questions

Is FONY free to use?

Yes. FONY streams dozens of internet radio stations for free, with no account, subscription, or sign-up required.

Do I need a crypto wallet to use FONY?

No. Radio streaming works fully without a wallet. Connecting a MetaMask-compatible wallet is only needed to browse and play the curated Web3 NFT audio collections.

What is the Web3 / NFT audio feature in FONY?

It's a curated allowlist of NFT audio collections on Ethereum mainnet and Soneum. Track metadata, cover art, and audio are read directly from each token's on-chain metadata, and playback works through the same player as radio.

Can I add my own radio stations or playlists?

Yes. You can paste any M3U playlist URL (including GitHub blob links), or browse a large community M3U catalog directly inside the app. Custom playlists are saved locally in your browser.

Is FONY open source?

The app's code is licensed under AGPL-3.0. The FONY name, logo, and original visual design are trademarked separately and not covered by that license.

What is Fonypedia?

Fonypedia is FONY's built-in genre encyclopedia — a static reference page for each major genre covering its characteristic instruments, dominant styles, and notable artists, each linking straight into the matching live station.
